The Delegate of Colombia to the OIE submitted a dossier to the Director General of the OIE, requesting the recovery of the official disease status of the ‘foot and mouth disease (FMD)-free zone where vaccination is practised’ in Colombia, which had been recognised by the OIE World Assembly of Delegates (Resolution No. 22 of May 2017) and had been suspended with effect from 10 August 2018.

The OIE Scientific Commission for Animal Diseases considered the information provided by the Delegate of Colombia and concluded that this zone in Colombia fulfils the requirements of the relevant provisions of the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code Article 8.8.7. to fully regain its ‘FMD-free zone where vaccination is practised’ status, with effect from 5 February 2020. The regained status was recognised by the World Assembly of OIE Delegates in Resolution No. 7 of June 2020.
